Alexis Porter is the owner of Elizabeth’s Corner, LLC, a half-acre urban farm in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Founded in 2024, the farm began with Alexis’s quest to find the flavor and quality of tomatoes and cucumbers she remembered from childhood, a search that blossomed into a thriving family-run operation. Today, Elizabeth’s Corner raises laying hens for fresh eggs, grows herbs, peppers, greens, and tomatoes, and offers custom salad blends designed for peak taste and nutrition.
Working alongside her husband, children, and a strong support network, Alexis is committed to being a solution to the food desert in her community. Sales take place at the farm stand, with plans to expand into local farmers markets.
With support from the 2025 stipend, Elizabeth’s Corner will become fully operational, allowing Alexis to maintain her current flock, expand into broiler chickens, and purchase the infrastructure needed to streamline production. This funding marks a turning point for the farm, enabling Alexis to strengthen local food access while deepening her family’s roots in the land.
