Read RAFI’s October E-News

Dear Friends,

Fall always brings a mix of reflection and momentum — harvests wrapping up, new projects taking root, and plenty of chances to connect. This month’s RAFI News is full of stories, resources, and events that do just that.

Top of our minds here at RAFI is the departure of Edna Rodriguez from RAFI’s staff. For thirteen years — seven of them as Executive Director — Edna guided the organization with steadiness and vision. She expanded our reach across the Southeast U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, strengthened our foundation, and kept farmers at the center of every decision. We are sad to see her go and deeply grateful for her leadership and commitment. We invite you to read the heartfelt letter she shared on her last day, reflecting on her journey and RAFI’s future.

We’re excited to invite you to get involved in next spring’s Come to the Table Conference (Winston-Salem, NC) by leading a workshop or sharing a story. Themed “Food & the Common Good,” the conference provides an opportunity for all those committed to a just and equitable food system to convene and share stories and initiatives.

You’ll also find timely updates for farmers — from cover crops and disaster recovery programs to the latest on how the government shutdown may affect USDA services. In moments like this, RAFI’s technical assistance team can help you sort through what’s changing, what’s on hold, and what options are still available. Whether you’re weighing NRCS or FSA programs or just need help figuring out next steps, we’re here to make the landscape clearer.

Whether you’re looking for practical tools or just a little encouragement, we hope this newsletter has something that sparks action for you.

In solidarity,
RAFI
