Action Alert: NC Fracking Rules Comment Period Opens

Earlier this summer, the North Carolina Mining and Energy Commission (MEC) completed the drafting of hydraulic fracturing rules. It is critical that MEC members hear from landowners and other North Carolinians with their thoughts and comments on the draft rules. Comments will be accepted between July 15 and September 15, 2014.

The nomination period for Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committees began on June 15th and will close on August 1st. The Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, describes county committees as a "vital link between the farm community and the U.S. Department of Agriculture".

Committees make decisions about the agency's programs and conduct outreach to other farmers to improve participation and access to services.
