Welcoming an Old Friend Home: Farm Aid 2014

We would like to welcome Farm Aid to North Carolina, as we would welcome an old friend into our home. Farm Aid was created 29 years ago to respond to the needs of farm families facing the pain of losing their farms. Some of our staff members were there at that first concert.

The nomination period for FSA County Committees is now open! Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Committees consist of a small group of farmers who are each elected for three-year terms. Committees make decisions about the agency's programs and conduct outreach to other farmers to improve participation and access to services.

Lessons Learned from North Carolina’s Farmer-Veterans

'Helping' is temporary. It creates a power dynamic, an authority figure and a sense of dependence. 'Helping' implies that people cannot 'help' themselves. I am not here to 'help' farmer-veterans. I am here to remind them of the power they already have and connect them with the means to use that power.
