Cheryl Alston leads the Little Washington Growing Group (LWGG), a nonprofit organization in Goldsboro, NC, dedicated to providing chemical- and pesticide-free fruits and vegetables. LWGG creates garden sites throughout the community, increasing access to fresh, local produce and engaging residents in food production. The farm serves as a vital resource, offering support and relief to historically marginalized populations.

At 80 years old, Cheryl plans to use funding to build a restroom facility on the farm. The current portable toilet is difficult for her to use, and a permanent facility would provide greater convenience for her family and visitors. Unlike her previous farm, which was closer to home, this new location makes a restroom on-site essential for accessibility and comfort.
