The South Carolina Black Farmers Coalition (SCBFC) is a community of over 250 Black farmers, agricultural professionals, and advocates dedicated to supporting Black farmers across the Palmetto State. Representing diverse regions including the Lowcountry, Midlands, and Upstate, SCBFC members grow a wide variety of crops such as root vegetables, staple grains, specialty produce, and fruits, along with raising livestock and managing beekeeping operations.
SCBFC will use this funding to construct two cold storage units to help farmers preserve produce freshness and reduce post-harvest losses during transportation. The Coalition also prioritizes fostering connections among Black farmers through networking events and collaborative initiatives, strengthening the farming community statewide.
By focusing on infrastructure and community building, SCBFC aims to empower Black farmers in South Carolina, ensuring equitable representation and sustainable success for generations to come.
