Southeast Farmers Need Your Support

Climate disasters Hurricanes Helene and Milton have caused widespread devastation for farmers throughout the Southeast U.S., leaving crops destroyed, equipment damaged, and many livelihoods in jeopardy. To support those affected, RAFI has established the Hurricane Farmer Relief Fund to provide critical, on-the-ground assistance.

Your contribution will go directly to farmers facing these climate disaster challenges, offering immediate relief funds to help them recover and rebuild. Every dollar makes a difference and serves as a lifeline for a farmer in need.

Stand with our farming communities today — donate now to help farmers get back on their feet. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to support farmers impacted by the hurricanes. Together, we can help them restore their farms and ensure the future stability of our food system.

Farmers can visit RAFI’s page on resources for farmers and may call our Farmer Crisis Hotline at 866.586.6746.

RAFI Relief History

RAFI has a long history of supporting farmers during disasters, providing critical resources and direct relief to those impacted by hurricanes, floods, and other extreme events. Over the years, RAFI has developed specialized disaster recovery programs to respond quickly and effectively, assisting farmers with navigating disaster assistance programs, offering technical guidance, and even distributing emergency funds.

For example, after Hurricane Ida in 2021, RAFI provided direct assistance and recovery resources to farmers across Louisiana, Mississippi, and other affected states. They shared information on FEMA programs, SNAP assistance, and coordinated donations through local partners to help farmers recover,

Additionally, after Hurricane Matthew in 2016, RAFI worked closely with farmers to document losses, access federal assistance, and offer immediate support. These efforts have been part of their broader commitment to farmer resilience, particularly for small-scale and marginalized farming communities.

RAFI disaster recovery initiatives are not limited to reactive relief — they also focus on preparedness through educational materials, one-on-one assistance, and advocating for more robust federal disaster policies. This comprehensive approach ensures that farmers are better equipped to both withstand and recover from disasters.
