Rooted Traditions, Faison, NC
Rooted Traditions is a cooperative farm located in Faison, NC. The farm is run by a diverse group of immigrant women passionate about rescuing their traditions. Their inspiration comes from their farm, where the group grows medicinal herbs to create natural soaps, shampoos, and ointments using sustainable methods. Rooted Traditions started a project to recover knowledge about medicinal plants and their uses and created a small herb garden. As they kept learning, the project grew. Soon they started using the herbs to make products to sell to friends and family and to help their community.
The women of Rooted Traditions want to develop more products, such as teas and tinctures, in the future, while they develop more clients and continue training to build their capacity to grow medicinal plants and products and improve their marketing and communication skills. With this project, they will start by building a space at the farm to dry and store herbs.
