Stephanie Rodriguez Ocasio is the owner of Agricultora.pr, an agricultural project located in the mountains of Ciales, Puerto Rico. On her farm, Rodriguez Ocasio grows lettuce, cilantro, patchouli, and other agricultural products using agroecological, chemical-free practices that respect and protect the environment. In addition, the farm serves as an educational space where Rodriguez Ocasio offers workshops to the local community, promoting the importance of sustainable agriculture. She also manages a CSA box program to encourage the consumption of fresh and healthy produce. With the grant funds, Rodriguez Ocasio will install batteries for an innovative solar refrigeration system, which will allow her to maintain the freshness of her crops without depending on the traditional electrical grid. This improvement will be essential to guaranteeing the quality of the products distributed to CSA subscribers, supporting the community, and continuing to operate in a more sustainable manner. In addition, Rodriguez Ocasio plans to offer a free workshop at the farm in honor of RAFI.
Mi nombre es Stephanie Rodríguez Ocasio y soy la dueña de Agricultora.pr, un proyecto agrícola ubicado en las montañas de Ciales, Puerto Rico. En mi finca, cultivo lechuga, cilantrillo, pacholí y otros productos agrícolas utilizando prácticas agroecológicas, libres de químicos, que respetan y protegen el medio ambiente. Además, la finca sirve como un espacio educativo donde ofrezco talleres a la comunidad local, promoviendo la importancia de la agricultura sostenible. También manejo un programa de cajitas CSA para fomentar el consumo de productos frescos y saludables. Con los fondos del subsidio, voy instalar baterías para un innovador sistema de refrigeración solar, lo que me permitirá mantener la frescura de mis cosechas sin depender de la red eléctrica tradicional. Esta mejora será esencial para garantizar la calidad de los productos que distribuyo a mis suscriptores, apoyar a mi comunidad y continuar operando de manera más sostenible.
